I have no idea why I am so irritated with the fact that my mom is giving my son a bath. Its probably because I do not like my mother. I love her because she is my mom, but I do not like her. She annoys me on so many levels, and I find she is very jealous of everything related to my son. She does not respect boundaries. She did not ask, my dad just told her to go do it.
I don't know why its pissing me off. Probably because I haven't spent any time with him today and he was more excited to see her than he was me. Totally being stupid. I know.

You're entitled. It's not stupid. Hang in there. And don't forget -- you're Monkey's mom. Grandma might be novel at the moment and so of course he's happy to see her, but she will never ever not ever replace YOU in his heart. Now go have a drink.

I agree with AA about the Mom and the drink. :)

Scientistmother, I know exactly what you mean about grandma not respecting boundaries. Common Asian thing, isn't it? My husband and I just shrug and let grandma and grandpa have at it when they visit. We can't really stop them without making things worse, and chocolates, overindulgence, and general craziness (in limited doses) are not permanently harmful.

Yeah, I hope you had that drink and relax! Sometimes I just have to walk away when the parental units are being pushy... wonder if my own kids will feel that way about me someday?

AA / Micro - thanks AA I needed to hear that. I think a drink would've been the right thing to do.

BeanMom - its totally an Asian thing. The funny part is that I get annoyed with my MIL for being UNinvolved. I guess its about striking the right balance.

I'm hoping that by chronicling my thoughts on the subject, I will have more empathy for monkey when he is older. Its also why I think the MIL stays out of stuff...urgh I think I'll have that drink tonight.
