We did very slow switch over of SMDogs food from very expensive, no perservative, no filler food to Kirkland Premium brand (yes that would be costco brand dog food) and there is no more diarrhea! Over the last week she's had more kirkland brand than the other stuff and her weight gain has been noticeable. We're very excited and find it a bit ironic that it was the "good" stuff that wasn't very good for her. We figured it was the food because if we had a high quantity of white rice mixed in with her dry food she was fine. I'm so happy that her tummy is all well.
Her confidence is getting up there as well. She's starting to challenge my authority which is good in terms of confidence, but bad in terms of training. I hate being harsh with dogs, but I need to be....

"good" dog food is very often crap. . .
Mrs.Spit - you're so right! Monkey's has monkey dc supervisor said, "I've had 2 dogs live till 20 with no health problems on Alpo".. They're dogs. They eat their own poop...
The "good" dog food is best described by an annual article in the Whole Dog Journal (or some title like that.) We fed the bottom of the list to our dogs, but we had to change for a similar reason - it was giving one dog bad belly problems.
However, while the Kirkland Premium does not appear on their list, it is the generic version of a brand that does appear on the list - made in the same factory under the same conditions. So, in fact, while feeding what is seen as a generic low-quality brand, you are paying less for one of the less expensive human-grade quality brands. There is a difference, you just have to be careful because some that once were very good foods have downgraded without notice.
Glad to hear it, for the dog's sake and yours.
