Hmmm... not sure if I have introduced myself here before? I am a 30-year old Psychology PhD Candidate living in Nova Scotia with my husband and 2-year-old.... Wow, it's pretty sad that that's all I can think to say about myself! What else? I finally got around to losing some baby weight this year - I'm down about 25 lbs since the beginning of January. I recently started running again and did a 5K a few weeks ago, and am training now for a 10K in September. We also just set up a badminton net in our yard, so hoping badminton will become a new hobby!
I just finished my first year on the TT in a STEM field after working at a National Lab for 7 years. I found this blog through Prof in Training's blog. I have 2 kids myself, so I am very interested in how other scientist-parents do it.
Just finished my first year in a Geochemistry PhD program. 38 years old, mom of four. My kids are older than yours, but it's still nice to hear adventures of moms in academia.
I'm a postdoc in physiology and 22 weeks pregnant. I've been thinking about if and how to get away from the bench for about the last year, and reading blogs like yours has helped me to not feel quite so alone as I struggle with the good and bad of academia and how to balance these with family. I've just started blogging myself a bit and am hoping to get a little more involved in a community of women/moms in science.
