Make your voice heard

Our country is heading for some crazy times. We have a PM who has instigated a huge political mess and put the state of this country in jeopardy. There is a possibility that we may have a new coalition government that can't even get its shit together. They announced a panel of the economic wise men without first making sure they agreed, ( I can't find the link), and now Jack Layton wants his own air time. I know I don't trust the current PM to be willing to work with the current parliment and I'm not sure I want Dion as PM either. I would prefer Harper to resign.

Jack Layton may be out of line, but the notion that the embattled PM of a minority government can go on television and state his case unchallenged, indulge in fear mongering and misrepresenting the truth sounds like abuse of power to me...

Yes but Paul Martin did the same thing to save his minority government. What he didn't do was dissolve parliment unnecessarily. I don't even think they comtemplated doing that. I am shocked that the GG agreed to it. Although I'm not a fan of having dion has PM, it was unprecendent move, which allowed Harper to circumvent the will of parliment, which is the will of the people

Paul Martin's government was brought down by a no confidence vote which he never did try to avert by shutting down parliament -- no parallel can be drawn here.
In any case, the GG seems to be on Harper's side, which almost certainly means that, even if on January 26 his government falls, we are sent back to the polls, we are not getting a coalition government. So, I am pessimistic -- I predict that Harper's vicious and wrong-headed budget will actually pass, in a form very close to that which he initially presented. I sure hope I am wrong.
